Day 18

At the start of our holiday Tom and I thought we would like to read through the book of Psalms and so we sgtarted our day today the same as usual sitting in our car and reading a Psalm and praying for family and friends. Today we read about God being our fortress, our strength, our rock and our salvation and as we lifted our eyes there were mountains all around us with fortress-like rocks on top. How fitting.

Every mountain we saw this morning reminded us of what we had read!
The reason we went back into Utah was to visit two National Parks the first of which was Arches National Park. This park is absolutely wonderful - full of majestic mountains. We had thought that we would be seeing arches there was so much more.

Can you see the arches?
One area was called The Garden of Eden and was the valley too far away for our camera to do justice to - therefore no picture :)
This picture is best if you can enlarge it. We took it from way over on the other side of the gully and we laughed when we saw it because it was so appropriate. The name of this series of rocks is The Devil's Garden.
Today was broken into three parts - morning at Arches National Park and then afternoon at the other end of Canyonlands National Park - we saw the one end yesterday - and the third part driving back into Colorado. This park was a disappointment except for two areas - one was the arch behind us. We met a young couple from California and she asked if we would like her to take a picture of us and then we took a picture of them. So Matt here is the first picture taken of the two of us by someone else. I still like Tom's attempts of taking a picture of the two of us.

This is what could be seen through that arch.

And these two pictures were the other thing that was great. I'd love to hear what you think this is.
We drove through what seemed like hours of this leaving Utah.
Finally hit green and a very swollen Colorado |River.
Oops, didn't mean to put it in twice and since I'm so inept with this computer it's staying in. lol
Tom loves to get high and so we drove up the first mountain he could find. lol This was near the top and was a lovely break from the almost 40 degree day. I actually had to put my sweater on.

This is ice on the highest lake on top of the mountain.
And so we ended the day in Delta getting the second last room in a motel - I'm not kidding everybody seems to be on holidays down here and we've discovered that there are tours that go to all the National Parks - except the one this afternoon, they don't go there for some reason. lol
I asked Tom where we're going tomorrow but he's not sure yet but I'm not worried I know he'll have a plan by tomorrow morning.
As I sat on the bed working on my blog I said to Tom that I knew what the best thing I was doing for him this holiday was doing the blog and not making him pick our pictures (if he didn't want to) and he said I was right that was the best gift. Hey you've got to do something good for your hubby every once in a while. Hopefully that makes up for sitting beside me when we sing along with our cds. LOL
